Case filed against Marak, ST

SHILLONG, JUNE 23: Meghalaya chief secretary WMS Pariat has filed a defamation case against Tennydard M Marak and The Shillong Times for publishing his allegations leveled against Pariat that he was silent on the letter of President of India and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) chairperson seeking reply on the status of action taken on the Schedule Tribe status of chief minister Mukul Sangma.

East Khasi hills public prosecutor IC Jha informed that a criminal and civil case was filed in the court of the district and session court on June 17 and 20 respectively. He however did not give details of the case.

The case has been filed by the chief secretary against Tennydard, The Shillong Times publisher and news editor for publishing the allegations and thereby defaming him.- By Our Reporter
