Shillong, Sept 7: A’chik National Volunteer Council – B (ANVC-B) has invited the state government for an “open-debate” on “Garoland” issue and also to debate on the need of Garo people.
ANVC (B) chairman Rimpu N Marak said, “We want to hold an “open-debate” with the state government to discuss on the issue pertaining to Garoland.”.
In a statement issued Friday Marak said , “We believe responding to our call and debating with us will not make the State to lose its dignity and pride,” He went on to say that the ANVC hoped to sort out issue and refrain from series of complications and conflicts surfacing in the State because of headstrong attitude of the government.”
Justifying the call for an open debate, Marak said the decision came after the government failed to pay heed to their Garoland demand. The statement rued saying that the cold shoulder the government gave to their demand made them feel “dead” as if they did not exist at all.
Taking a dig at the legislators from Garo hills, Marak said that the Garo MLAs even failed to raised the Garoland issue in the autumn session of the assembly. It revealed saying , “ We sent SMSs to many Garo leaders including the Garo opposition leader Conrad Sangma which stands ignored.”
The ANVC (B) statement further said that it knows their rights and know where they stand today and issues which made things go wrong stands corrected in the best interest of the State through debate and save “unfortunate situations.” – By Our Reporter
