SHILLONG, MAY 5: An FIR has been registered against the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) publicity secretary Sainkupar Nongtraw at the Sardar police statio on Monday for issuing threat to the East Khasi hills SP (City) Vivek Syiem on Sunday. East Khasi SP M Kharkhrang directed the Sardar police station to register a case against Nongtraw and accordingly a case was registered.
The direction came a day after the proscribed outfit issued an open threat to the Superintendent of Police (City) Vivek Syiem for allegedly responsible of arresting bread earners of many uncountable families.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Nongtraw stated – “How long will Syiem stay under protection of his gunmen and the police dept? He is not immortal. How many of the youths of the region have suffered in the hands of this manipulative cop.”
Kharkhrang termed the open threat of Nongtraw as an act of desperation. He said, “I have directed the officer in-charge of Sadar police state to register a case against Sainkupar Nongtraw, the outfit’s publicity secretary.”.
