SHILLONG, MAY 3: Stunt bikers Biju and Sathyaraj –members of the “Throttlerz”- mesmerized the crowd with their breath-taking professional stunts – from slides, wheelies to stoppies performed on KTM bikes at the Polo parking on Saturday.
Throttlerz is 16 members professionally managed stunt team from Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) and has been into stunting for the past four years.
Hundreds of people, especially bikes lovers, were treated to freestyle stunts riding performed by the two experts.
Biju and Sathyaraj are the main stunt riders of Throttlerz team.
The team members arrived in Shillong as part of their bike stunt show performed as tie-up with the KTM Company. The team had earlier performed shows for other two-wheelers brands.
“Our aim is to take stunting in India to the next level,” Biju told reporters at the sideline of the show. According to him, though stunt is developing in the country, it is yet to be accepted as a sport activity like in the foreign countries.
“There is lots of talents but sponsorship are not forth coming and it’s a bit difficult to spread such activity,” he said.
Formed in 2009, Biju said, “Our passion for bike riding and bikes has turned into a career.”
With biking taken serious as a lifestyle and motorcycling becoming a popular buy among youth, the Throttlerz said that safety part of motorcycling and stunting are some of the most important aspects that cannot be ignored.
The team never encourages youngsters to perform any stunts without helmet and safety gears. Also they do not support street racing.
“We never fail to carry the message about safe riding to people,” Sathyaraj said. He said they don’t entertain youngsters to perform without safety gears and also street riding. It is always a strict “No” from Throttlerz,” he informed adding “We have also been conducting helmet awareness and safety riding in our performing shows.”
Shillong also has youths passionate about biking but in recent years there has also been an increase in accident cases.
Sending a message to bike lovers, Sathyaraj said, “I would convey this message to all bikers to ride responsibly within 30-35 speed when they are riding in the city to avoid accidents.”
Meanwhile, the two bike stunt members said despite facing several problems, their love for this sport could never deter them from chasing our dreams. Both the bikers said, “We are trying our best to promote this sport and set a base for the upcoming generations.”- By Our Reporter
