SHILLONG, FEB 19: Two ANVC (B) militants were killed, while other four militants of the newly formed A’chik Sangma An’pachakgipa Kook (ASAK) were arrested on Wednesday in West Garo hills district..
Police said the two ANVC (B) militants were gunned down by GNLA (Garo National Liberation Army) rebels at Sankinigre area allegedly for extorting money in the name of the GNLA.
The two slain militants were identified as Belbong and Raga. .
In another incident, the police arrested four militants of the newly formed tribal Garo militant outfit, the A’chik Songna An’pachakgipa Kotok (ASAK).
Among those arrested include ASAK joint secretary Lucky R Natal, Netun N Sangma, Damin Ch Sangma and Elkin K Sangma.
According to a police official the four militants were arrested from a bus while they were travelling towards Chokpot area in South Garo Hills district.
Two pistols along with six rounds of live ammunition, a high frequency wireless handset, demand notes of ASAK and GNLA were seized from the arrested ASAK militants. –By Our Reporter
