SHILLONG, FEB 10: A South Garo hills district ADM had a providential escape after he and his driver escape from being killed as unidentified armed militants fired at his vehicle while they were returning to Baghmara. The incident took place around 11:45 am on Monday near Rongdotchi village, 25 kms from the district headquarter.
Sources said that two militants dressed in camouflage stopped the vehicle but when they approached the vehicle the ADM smell something fishy and directed the driver to drive. The two unidentified militants fired on them.
The ADM and the driver however escaped unhurt. It is learnt three rounds were fired. TheADM name is being withheld for security reason.
This is the second time that a high government official has been attacked this year. The South Garo Hills deputy commissioner Chinmay P. Gotmare was also attacked on January 17 by suspected militants when he was travelling.- By Our Reporter
