SHILLONG, JAN 14: Demanding the removal of the West Garo hills district SP Mukesh Kumar Singh from the post, the Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) has demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged fake-encounter that killed four ANVC(B) cadres in West Garo hills district of the state.
“We demand a CBI inquiry to probe into the recently killing of the cadres of the outfit,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said in a statement issued on Tuesday. She also said that the misuse of youths by politicians to amass wealth is not a new phenomenon as most of the politicians have groomed youth to do their dirty job and kill them when they have finished and used them.
The CSWO alleged that the same type of incident took place with Fullmoon Dhar (a ring leader that led to Shillong Jailbreak in 2009) who was later shot by Mukesh K Singh, who is now SP Tura and is a trigger happy police officer.
“We demand that SP of West Garo hills be removed immediately and good considerate SP’s be appointed who will work to bring about peace and not shoot youth to aggravate the situation,” Kharshiing said.
The CSWO also urged all militant groups to come over ground so that talks for peace can take place for the benefit of the people.
Alleging that the politicians, some bureaucrats and police are eager not to solve militancy as the police secret fund is being plundered by them which are unaccountable. She was of the opinion that the government should not put trigger happy police officer to look after the district but to appoint concern police official who will work for the people at large.”
The CSWO also said that the statement of commissioner & secretary home (police) that talks can be held with other militant groups is not at all acceptable as he as a government servant cannot be speaking something which will not bring about peace, which the people of the state want.
Kharshiing said, “The government is the people and the people shall decide and not the few sitting in the helms of governance.”- By Our Reporter
