Church elder arrested

NONGSTOIN, JAN 10: The West Khasi hills district police on Friday arrested a church elder Phillongton Nongphud of Mawruksoin village who is also the student of 4th year of John Robert Theological Seminary, Mawklot for extortion

West Khasi Hills district police S. Nongtnger said that Phillington Nongphud (31) of Mawruksoin of West Khasi Hills under the Nongstoin police station was arrested   from Shillong Club in connection with the demand note  of Rs 12 lakhs given to a businessman of  the West Khasi hills district in the name of the ANVC on December 17, 2013.

Nongtnger said since the extortion case was being monitored by the police Nongphud was arrested on Friday. The SP said Nongphud admitted that he was guilty. He also told that Nongphud was a 4th year student of John Robert Theological Seminary, Mawklot.

Nongtnger  said a  case will be registered against him. – By Our Reporter
