SHILLONG, DEC 30: The BSF apprehended six Bangladeshis and one Indian from different parts of Meghalaya while they were trying to cross over to the state from the neighbouring country and handed them over to the police. Among those who were arrested, five of them are smugglers.
The BSF troop located at Ryngkua border outpost in East Khasi hills district apprehended one identified as Mamun Miya aged 30 years from Bangladesh while he was trying to cross the international border from Bangladesh. The BSF recovered 465 taka and one mobile phone with Bangladesh SIM from his possession.
On December 27 the BSF at Gasuapara border outpost in South Garo hills district apprehended another Bangladeshi identified as Saddam Hussain aged about 21 years while he was trying to cross the international border from Bangladesh. One mobile phone with two Bangladeshi SIM were recovered from him.
Last week the BSF also apprehended five Bangladeshis along with one Indian and seized 485 bottles of liquor, seven cattle heads, forest produce and other contraband items valued more than Rs 4 lakhs while being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.- By Our Reporter
