ANVC (B) warns govt, claims Garo hills wounded

Shillong, August 29: Pouring its rancour , the ANVC(B) demanded that the must fulfill its demands before it is too late as it claim that Garo hills have been “wounded” because of the irresponsible leaders leading to suffering of the Garos.

In a press statement issued Wednesday, the ANVC (B) warned the government saying,  “Spark a fire, and we will make sure it burns the entire house down.”  It said that the organization is committed to ensure that every citizen of Garo hills knows their right and practice it with pride.

The ANVC (B) is demanding the resignation of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) chief executive member Purno K Sangma and his deputy for their alleged corruption that it claimed has drained the coffer of the district council.

As part of its agitation to pressurize the two district council leaders to step down the outfit has called for a “ Black Flag Revolution” to fight corruption which it says is “democratic and legal”  in every-way. It, therefore, cautioned the government to be careful in handling the situation without bloodshed.

To put pressure on the GHADC CEM and his deputy to relinquish their post , the ANVC (B) has called for an indefinite road-blockade from Wednesday in Garo hills.

West Garo hills deputy commissioner Praveen Bakshi told www.ohmeghalaya.com late Wednesday night that life was near to normal, of course, with less traffic flow. He said, “Throughout the day, no incident has been reported and even office attendance is about ninety-five percent, which is quite good.”

The ANVC (B), meanwhile, queried if Garo revolutionists are militants and trouble makers, what are protestors in Shillong called? It asserted that they are fighting for a change in a “democratic way, so are they (ngos)”.

It accused the state government of being bias on the people of Garo Hills by using suppression.  ANVC (B) warned, “Before attempting anything in Garo Hills, warn, arrest and attempt the same in Shillong. Garo politicians should stop playing this old game staying in Shillong.”- By Our Reporter
