SHILLONG, DEC 26: Famous Bollywood actress poet, author and painter Deepti Naval shared her insightful experiences of her life by reading her poetry and a short story to a jam packed audience of book lovers and fans at the Asian Confluence in Shillong.

Deepti reads out ten lines from her book ‘The Mad Tibetan.’

A pin drop silence was maintain as Deepti reads out loud few lines of The Mad Tibetan which is a story of  a mad Tibetan whom Naval encountered in Leh.

Naval who has worked in as many as eighty movies including the super hit movies like Chashme Badoor and Kamla   read out passages from her book giving the audience a glimpse of her as a writer.

The Mad Tibetan opens with a short story of the same name, which the actress read aloud and It begins with a walk in the snow which received applauds from the crowd who had come to listen her read.

The 56-year-old actress writes from her experiences, shaping her ‘little scribbling’ into poems and short stories.

Naval collection of short stories, The Mad Tibetan (2011) features original artwork and a unique patchwork of memoir, travel writing, and pure fiction. Penned in English, the book explores the complexity of the human condition and all its qualities from cruelty to kindness, love and longing. Lamha Lamha (1981) is a compilation of Naval’s poems written in Hindi.

She published a second volume of verses, Black Wind in 2004 and Her Journey from Lamha Lamha to Mad Tibet, shows her take on life.

She is also a philanthropist and founded Vinod Pandit Charitable Trust that works for  the education of the girl child.- By Our Reporter
