Pregnant woman drowned

SHILLONG, NOV 18:  Twenty-two year old pregnant woman was drowned along with her cousin after the latter tried to save her from a pond on Monday afternoon in Umiew Pomlakrai village under Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district.

Police informed that pregnant Iardahun Suting, wife of Lastonwell Kharkongor of Umiew Pomlakrai, located about 20 km from Shillong, had gone to fetch water from a pond located inside the compound of her residence. However, Suting fell down and slipped into the pond at around 2:30 pm and died, police said.

Her husband, who tried to save her, was nearly drowned but was pulled out. Later, the woman’s cousin brother, Kilanson Marbaniang, 23, also tried to help her. Unfortunately, he was also drowned and died, police added. –By Our Reporter
