Shillong, November 17: The fourteen pro ILP ngos announced fresh three-day ‘night-road-blockade’ from November 19 to 21 to press for their demand for implementation of the Inner-Line Permit (ILP) to check inflow of illegal influx into the state.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the 14 ngos, which is a conglomeration of KSU, FKJGP, HNYF, GSU, JSU, RBYF, AJYWO, JYF, CSWO, KWAADA, AYWO, AIGU, ADE and FAF held on Sunday.
The 8 pm o 5 am night blockade will be effective in all the eleven districts of the state, All Jaintia Youth Welfare Organization (AJYWO) president MH Dkhar said in a press statement issued on Sunday night.
Dkhar said, “We have collectively resolved to continue our agitations with the three days night road blockade, as now it is the examination time for the students, we could not proceed with any agitational programmes that would affected them but once the examinations is over we will intensify the stir.”
He said the 14 ngos will not rest until and unless the government implements Inner Line Permit in our state as per Bengal Eastern Frontier Regualtion Act 1873.
Dkhar also said when Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh government in the interest of their tribal indigenous population can have ILP in their state why Meghalaya government cannot implement for its minority tribal population.- By Our Reporter
