Shillong, November 16: Fifty years old tea shop owner Bishashwar Das was set ablaze by masked men on Saturday morning after they pour petrol on him at Bishnupur Bazaar. The incident took place at around 11 am. This is the second shocking incidents when miscreants set on fire city traders.
Two others namely seventy years old Minaram Joshi and Mitilda Malai also sustained minor injuries as they were also present in the tea shop when the attack took place.
There was also an attempt to set a labourer working in North Eastern Hills University (NEHU) on fire in October by miscreants but he manage to escape.
According to the police the miscreants wore masks to hide their faces. Das sustained fifty percent burn injuries and was rushed to Woodland hospital where he was admitted.
In October miscreants had also attacked Meghalaya Machineries owner Vikash Nandwal and set him on fire after pouring petrol on him. He suffered serious burn injuries and was taken to Delhi for treatment but succumbed in a New Delhi hospital after battling for sixteen days.
In a similar attack on Saturday morning, sources said around seven miscreants
came to Babua Tea stall in Bishupur Bazaar and lobbed a petrol bomb after which they entered the shop and poured petrol on the tea stall owner Bisheshwar Das and set him ablaze.
After setting the tea shop owner on fire they fled away.
East Khasi hills SP M Kharkhrang along with his officers immediately rushed to the spot. Police said efforts are already to identify and arrest the miscreants who committed such a heinous crime. – By Our Reporter
