TURA, NOV 15: West Garo hills district administration swung into action on Friday after the rumour that salts were in short supply and seized 301 kilograms of salt from one retailer who was selling the salt at higher price. West Garo hills deputy commissioner Pravin Bakshi assured the consumers that there is no shortage of salt in Tura and some unscrupulous traders tried to sell salt at a higher price. Soon after the rumours, the district’s price monitoring committee and vigilance committee met and fixed the rates for salt after taking feedback from the wholesalers and retailers. Bakshi informed that all the police stations have been directed to monitor the price of salts under their areas.- By our Reporter
