Shillong, November 3: Four heavily armed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militants were arrested by police from Tura in West Garo hills district.
A huge cache of arms and ammunition besides IED bombs were seized from the militants who were intercepted by the police while they were trying to enter the town, police said.
The arrested militants have been identified as PD Marak, RM Sangma, B R Marak and DR Marak, the driver of the semi utility vehicle.
Police alleged the four-member GNLA team was sent by Sohan D Shira, the GNLA commander-in-chief , to create havoc in Tura town for the next few days.
An AK 47 rifle with 26 rounds of ammunition, one 9 mm pistol and two magazines, one 7.56 pistol with two magazines, three IED bombs, two I-cards were seized from the militants, police informed.
Police also said the magazine pouches, camouflage uniforms, round seals of the GNLA and demand booklets were also seized.- By Our Reporter
