CSWO to approach SC

SHILLONG, OCT 29: The Civil Society Women’s Organization (CSWO) threatened to seek the intervention of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) to ensure that all those involved in the ‘education job scam’ unearthed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are punished The threat came as those involved in the scam including then education minister Ampareen Lyngdoh have been given a clean chit by the High Level Scrutiny Committee (HLSC) in its report.However, the state government is prepared to take action against the officers  who have been of indicted by the HLSC report.

CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said on Tuesday, “We would soon seek the direct intervention of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) into the matter as we are not at all satisfied with the report submitted by the HLSC.” She said the CSWO wants all those involved, including minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, who was then education minister and others politicians to be punished.

The CBI report had raised eye brows in the state as it named seven ministers and five legislators for bending the rules and recommending the selection of their candidates as assistant teachers in the government lower primary school two years ago.

However the Meghalaya government instead of taking actions on the basis of the CBI report constituted its own committee HLSC which gave clean chits to ministers and politicians. The CBI report said that of the 350 names selected for the post of the assistant teachers 255 were the names recommended by these politicians. – By Our Reporter
