SHILLONG, OCT 25: The state government will soon hold ‘separate’ public consultations on the draft “Meghalaya Regulation of Landlords and Verification of Tenants Bill” with all the stakeholders in the eleven districts of the state.
The public consultations on the draft bill will be held with traditional institutions, teachers, academicians, civil society groups, intelligentsia, youth and students in order to ensure that all sections of the society are provided with adequate opportunity to participate in the consultations, the Commissioner & Secretary of the political department said in a press communiqué issued on Friday.
The dates for the public consultations to be held in the different districts will be fixed by the Deputy Commissioners.
The government release also informed that the public consultation process will be launched by the chief minister Mukul Sangma in a function to be held at Yojana Bhavan auditorium on the November 1, 2013.
The state government has also notified the constitution of a Ministerial Committee to be headed by P Tynsong, Minister, Community & Rural Development with Clement R. Marak, Minister, Power, Dr M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Minister, Urban Affairs, R.V.Lyngdoh, MLA, Kennedy Khyriem, Parliamentary Secretary, Justine Dkhar, Parliamentary Secretary and Cherak W.Momin, Parliamentary Secretary as member.
The state government has also requested the public to participate actively in the consultations on dates to be notified by the respective deputy commissioners of the concerned districts to ensure the crystallization of a legislation which can effectively contain the problem of influx in the state.- By Our Reporter
On this very day, I don’t think people will gather for that particular event as Our people in Shillong city are very fond of Bandhs and office picketing. I am sure that there will be some organisations who will call a bandh or any kind of frightening. It has become a habit to sponsor bandh and public curfew here.
