Burning case: Police clueless

 

SHILLONG, OCT 10: Twenty four hours after the Meghalaya Machineries owner Vikash Nandwal was inside his shop at Motphran, the police are clueless as to who is responsible for the heinous crime.East Khasi hills SP M Kharkrang said the police are working on the incident to get hold of miscreant(s) who poured petrol on Vikash Nandwal and set him ablaze yesterday. Nandwal who received  more than fifty percent burn injuries is said to in stable  condition. He is undergoing operation in a Guwahati hospital.

Some days ago miscreants also tried to set ablaze labourers in Mawlai and the NEHU campus but were not successful.

Meanwhile the Meghalaya state NCP has condemned the barbaric act of trying to set ablaze Nandwal and has demanded nothing less than capital punishment for the perpetrators of the crime.

NCP MLA Sanbor Shullai said the attack on Nandwal tantamount to murder and said the government must take immediate and stringent action against the perpetrators of such crime. The party in its meeting said such incident brings insecurity in the minds of people apart from giving rise to communal disharmony.

The party also asked the state government do dealt with iron hands with the criminals who indulge in such act of violence. -By Our Reporter
