SHILLONG, OCT 8 : The pro-ILP ngos who had launched an agitation demanding implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) have suspended agitations in the state from October 10 to 16 in view of different religious festivals. Durga Puja is slated to be held from October 11 and Id on October 16.
The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of thirteen pressure groups demanding implementation of the ILP in the state. KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa said, “Following the meeting we have decided to suspend the agitations from Thursday.”
Jyrwa said that the organisations will convene another meeting on October 16 to chalk out other agitation programmes. “We want the government to implement the ILP and we have never demanded for the Tenancy Act,” he said, adding, “Tourism will not be affected by ILP.”- By Our Reporter
