Festival ,awareness prog

SHILLONG, SEPT 24: In order to tap the talent of the youths in different  fields various competitions was organised by the South West Khasi hills district administration  which is also a part of the district arts and culture festival cum awareness campaign on SVEEP II to enhance the enrolment in the electoral process in the district.

The programme was held at deputy commissioner’s multi purpose hall complex at Mawkyrwat on Tuesday

 South West Khasi hills district deputy commissioner  R Lyngdoh highlighted about the importance of enrolment of every individual who has attained the age of 18 years in the electoral rolls so as to enable the person to exercise the voting right during election.

 Lyngdoh also appealed to all myntris, headmen and secretaries of different villages under the South West Khasi hills district to extend their cooperation with the district election office and the boot level officers for the success of the enrolment and electoral process in the district.

Encouraging the participants who took part in quiz competition, singing of folk song, folk dance competition, Indigenous instrumental music competition, creative writing, painting and cartooning competition, Lyngdoh underscored that this festival is one of the platform which give the youths the opportunity to showcase their different talents.

Lyngdoh also urged upon them to do their best while showing the spirit of competition. The winners of these competitions will be selected for taking part in the competitions to be held at Shillong.

The meeting was presided over by R Iangrai ADC and other dignitaries who spoke included KL Nongbri ADC election who highlighted about the aims and objectives of SVEEP II while MS Sangma ADC proposed the vote of thanks.- By Our Reporter
