Reaction: Attack on labourers

SHILLONG, SEPT 21: Meghalaya labour minister Ampareen Lyngdoh said that the government has taken cognizance of the murderous attack on the labourers by miscreants during the ongoing agitation of the pro ILP activists. She also felt that such an attack can have serious ramification on the Meghalaya youths who are outside and are in minority.

Lyngdoh said that the state government cannot allow such attacks on the labourers. Miscreants had attacked two labourers recently at Umshiing Mawkynroh and attempted to burn one of them by pouring petrol. The labourers however managed to escape.  Lyngdoh also said in order to check illegal migrant labourers from entering the state, the labour department has appointed ten labour inspectors and nineteen more are in the process of being recruited.– By Our Reporter
