SHILLONG, APR 4: Two tourists and a pan seller in Laitumkhrah suffered minor injuries when they were assaulted as the KSU rally passed through the locality on the way to Motphran. The rally was part of the celebration of the thirty-fifth anniversary of the KSU which started from Iewrynghep on Thursday evening.
Shops and business establishments in Fire brigade and Laitumkhrah immediately downed the shutters.
The tourists identified as Briten Sinha and Arup Kundu from Kolkata has been admitted in the city hospital. Police said they are registering a case in this regard.
However the thirty-fifth anniversary of KSU celebrated as the ‘Khasi National Awakening Day’ with meetings and rallies all over Khasi-Jaintia hills region of the state went off peacefully in all the places.
Carrying placards and bamboo torches, thousands of KSU members took part in the celebration. – By Our Reporter
