Two candidates have filed their nomination papers from Shillong parliamentary constituency on Friday for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, to be held on April 19.
NPP candidate and cabinet minister Ampareen Lyngdoh and Independent candidate Peter Shallam (58) have filed their nominations during the third day, officials said
The candidates, who are yet to file their nomination papers include sitting Congress MP Vincent H Pala, RDA candidate Robertjune Kharjahrin, VPP candidate Dr Ricky AJ Syngkon, and Independent candidate Prof Lakhon Kma.
Candidates from Tura include NPP Tura MP Agatha K Sangma, Congress legislator from Gambegre Saleng A Sangma and former TMC legislator Zenith M Sangma.
Meghalaya is one among 21 states/UTs going for the first phase of elections, to be held on April 19. Altogether, there are 102 parliamentary constituencies under the first phase.
The other States/UTs in Phase 1 are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
