SHILLONG, MAR 11: In a rare case an eleven years old boy was detained by the Shillong traffic police on Sunday for driving a boulder-loaded jeep (ML 05 D 6745) with no adult supervision at Mawroh-Sanker junction.
The jeep driven by the minor was spotted at Sanker junction in Mawroh by the traffic personnel placed on duty to organise the traffic arrangement on the occasion of the Khasi Jaintia Presbyterian Synod Sepngi general service held at Golflink on Sunday.
East Khasi Hills additional superintendent of police (Traffic) Stephen A Rynjah said the 11 year old boy was found driving the boulder-loaded jeep with his small brothers sitting beside him. There was no adult inside the vehicle.
The police have taken the minor’s sixty years old father Korti Lyngdoh Nonglait of Mawlai Mawroh into custody for allowing his 11 year old son to drive the jeep.
The police found out that Nonglait had no driving license and no documents pertaining to the vehicle when the transport department was questioned for allowing such highly dangerous instance to go unnoticed.-By Our Reporter
